I am able to downland Indesign on my iPad Air m4, but when i try and click settings and stuff with my mouse it works but if i try and tap into a text box nothing happens? How can I resolve this issue? Thank you!

So when I click on sidebars it works, the rectangle tool for instance, but when I try and create nothing happens unless I use the Apple Pencil. Is there a way to click into things like that with a mouse? I’m trying to type in text boxes and things like that but am struggling with selecting where in the text box I want to type and actually being able to type in the box with a Bluetooth keyboard because latterly nothing happens when I click with the mouse. using the mouse would be much preferable rather than trying to use the scribble feature on the Apple Pencil. If there is a way to make this work it would be much appreciated! Thank You!
