I am looking for a site where scripts gather

Many scripts are introduced on many sites.

I was tired of looking at various sites.

Are there any sites where scripts are introduced like "Adobe Add-ons"?

Occasionally people will compile a list of scripts together such as https://redokun.com/blog/indesign-scripts  or Scripts sorted by categories for InDesign  but largely there isn't a general repository (apart from github) for InDesign scripts, they're usually hosted by their creators.

There are several reasons for creators to do this:

  • direct traffic to their own site
  • maintain ownership over their intellectual property (e.g. be able to take it down if a catastrophic failure is found)
  • billing and distribution (if a script is not a free one)

I've released some of my scripts via the Adobe Add-ons but found that it frustrates users when they download the software... and nothing shows up unless they do a sweep of their machine to find the obscure place that the download lobbed... I've received several complaints about this so I just email them back with a link to my own site.

I agree it would be great to have one central location to download any script that's been made available to the public, but the host of that location would have a great deal of liability to make sure that code wasn't malicious, handle support and complaints, maintenance... but on the up-side for legitimate creators it would provide a service such as Steam where people could get scripts at a one-stop-shop... I think that's what the Adobe add-ons is trying to be, but has some yards to go yet.

If the answer wasn't in my post, perhaps it might be on my blog at colecandoo!
