I cannot open one of my InDesign files.

My file gets stuck loading whenever I try and open it. I’m successfully able to open other PDFs, files larger than this one, & files within the same project. I was able to open this file 20min before Adobe stopped working with it. So far, I’ve tried the following:

  • updating adobe
  • resetting font files
  • turning off OneDrive link to prevent it looping to find missing image links
  • deleting/re-installing InDesign
  • resetting Adobe’s recovery files (Windows)
  • I’ve looked through every folder on my computer for any backup & I cannot find one anywhere

It throws no error codes, please help me. I’m an architecture student trying to finish my portfolio by tomorrow & now I’m freaking out that I won’t even be able to finish by then. I’ve been trying to fix this for two and a half hours.

My files are also only on adobe Cloud

If your InDesign file is a cloud document, then you can also retrieve earlier versions. Select your file in the Creative Cloud app, choose ‘open on web’, then check the Timeline feature to see earlier versions.

First, try these general troubleshooting steps:

Also, if your file is on OneDrive, then OneDrive makes its own incremental backups of the last 30 days.

This didn’t work, I’m on their most recent version as well & can’t find the files mentioned in solution #3

My files are also only on adobe Cloud, so I can’t copy them into my OneDrive since I can’t open my file
