Question

I hate the Indesign RGB Colour Space View colour picker!

And from what I can gather from forum threads it isn't possible to change it.

I find it completely useless for adapting colours and finding complementary colours. Much prefer the pickers in photoshop and indesign.

Feature request!

I hate it too. Where is your feature request on indesign.uservoice.com?

Remember, never say you can't do something in InDesign, it's always just a question of finding the right workaround to get the job done. © David Blatner

Have you tried Window>Color>Adobe Color Themes

This gives a nice dialog - can there 3 spikes in the image above the type of colour types you want gives you the option to pick different variations

I see this was already suggested.

It would be good to have HSB color in InDesign. I know this doesn't fully address your frustration, but you can choose complementary colors using the Adobe Color Themes panel.

One thing you have to watch out for with Adobe Color Themes is there’s no color management. So if you create a theme inside of InDesign the swatches are sRGB, and your document needs to have sRGB assigned as the RGB document profile for the swatches in the Color Theme Panel to match the appearance in a document.

The browser based app lets you choose a color space, but the only way to get a color managed appearance is to use Lab and convert the swatches to the desired space in ID.

For example choosing CMYK in the web app produces a very different appearance in an ID doc with the default SWOP CMYK profile assigned

But device independent Lab works

The L view makes picking compliments easy—the complimentary color will be on the opposite side of the color view:

An HSB view has been a feature request forever. The L Lab Color Space view provides a rearranged HSB view where hue is a rotation around the field, saturation is on the diagonal, and brightness in the slider bar. This thread has captures:

"Much prefer the pickers in photoshop and indesign."

I'm pretty sure this is a typo, and if you have trouble editing your post then we can assist. Your subject line says you hate the color picker in InDesign. Did you mean to say "Illustrator" here?

Also post your request URL on this thread/send it to other people as well that you think do concur with your thoughts and ask them for a vote on the request. The greater the no. of votes on a request the better are its chance to be picked up

Please add your feature request to the following, this is where the product development team and engineers are available

https://indesign.uservoice.com/forums/601021-adobe-indesign-feature-requests

This forum is not a place frequented by Adobe employees, so your request will not gain any attention from people who can make it happen.
