I have updated to InDesign 2026 (26.1) and the poster frames of videos I place are not showing the poster frame (both in the InDesign file and in the exported ePub). This used to work just fine in an earlier build of InDesign. Help!

I have checked and the video has a poster frame.

The poster frame shows in the Interactive Media window, just not in the .indd file nor in the exported ePub.

Microsoft Copilot gave me this answer:

It’s not just you — this is a known regression in InDesign 2026 (26.1), and it’s specifically affecting video poster frames in both the layout view and exported EPUBs. The fact that you can still see the poster frame in the Media panel but not on the page is the giveaway: InDesign is failing to draw the poster frame proxy on the canvas.

Here’s the clearest picture of what’s going on and what you can do right now.

    ✅ What’s actually broken in 26.1

Based on user reports and Adobe’s own bug tracker:

    • Poster frames do not render on the page after placing a video.
    • Poster frames do not export to EPUB (reflowable or fixed‑layout).
    • The Media panel still shows the correct poster frame, which means the metadata is intact — the UI just isn’t drawing it.
    • The issue affects both embedded and linked videos.
    • It worked in 2025 and early 2026 builds, so this is a regression.

Adobe has acknowledged the issue and is tracking it internally.
