I just downloaded InDesign and cannot edit or do anything

Hi, i just downloaded indesign and all options are greyed out and cannot edit or add anything. What am I missing??

What OS? What version of Indesign? 

Can you provide screenshots and all the info you can please?

How and where did you download InDesign?

What happens exactly? Do you mean you can open an existing file but you can't do any modification on this file? Maybe the layers are locked? Or the frames?
