I’m experiencing problems when importing images (TIFF, PNG) and then reducing their size. Despite using the reduced display quality, InDesign crashes several times in a row. There are also frequent slowdowns, and I’m working directly from the computer’s internal hard drive.

I have a Lenovo with an Intel Core Ultra 7 155H, 32 GB of RAM, and I’m using the latest version of InDesign (21.5.1x64).

First, disable Generative AI options in the preferences.

If it doesn’t help, let us know your versions of InDesign and the operating system as well as how much RAM you have, for starters.

I also had to uninstall and reinstall InDesign because it kept crashing repeatedly on startup.

I uninstalled the AI features, and it already seems to be working better.
