I'm stuck with a bible Header

So basically I'm doing a layout for bible in malayalam. However, I'm stuck with it's headers. So basically, it should have Chapter Name - Chapter Number. (For eg: Mathew 3). But in some cases, where there are 2 chapter numbers or continuation of chapter from previous page with new chapter is where i met with problems. So, i'm using 2 master pages. In first master page, one with <Chapter Name> text variable & <Chapter Nu> for single chapter pages. For others, I'm using <Chapter Name> <Chapter Nu>-<Chapter Nu2>. Chapter Nu 2 is using last page running header feature and Chapter Nu is using first page Running header. I can make it work but when there is no clear visible chapter number in that page it doesn't detect and gives me Mathew 4-4 instead of Mathew 3-4. Please anyone help

For Bible publishing exists an InDesign version with specific plugins which helps to afford all kind of needed functionality. Normal users will nit get it, they provide this version exclusively to Christian Publishers. I have forgotten their web address. They provide also fonts for ALL languages. Try  to find them as I think you meet their requirements. I do a lot with Chrisitian publishers, but no Bibles, I did not meet their requirements.

You won't be able to achieve this automatically. On your sample spread, you'll have to change the running header on the right-hand page manually. Or hire someone to write a script for you to deal with such pages.
