Sitecore has a product called the Print Experience Manager (PxM) specifically designed for this purpose.

Developers don't know Indesign well and Designers don't know Sitecore well. Some Regex/scripting is required too. It's a sensitive function. PXM blocks easily by wrong feeds or htm-codes. My feeling and experience with this product: It needs more support from sitecore to deliver what is promised!
