Question

ID 20.2 only shows placed PNGs in low resolution

When I open a document with ID (20.2) with a placed PNG that was created with an earlier version of ID, only a pixelated preview is displayed. The only workaround I have found is to relink the PNG file.
Does anyone know this behaviour of ID 20.2?

What is the effective resolution of the image?

Why do you use PNG? Personally I would use PDF; AI, PSD or TIFF. I avoid PNGs in InDesign.

Hallo Willy

Try File>Export and choose IDML

Then open the IDML file in InDesign and save as a new inDesign file name.

Hi
Thank you for your reply.

Your workaround also works, of course. Whether I link the file again or save the document as .idml makes no difference to me. Thanks anyway.

By the way: When I export the document as a PDF, the linked PNG file is in high resolution again.

The InDesign preview is temp file information and builds up in the background saves.

Exporting to idml or relinking forces the InDesign preview to regenerate.

Moving from version to version, exporting to idml and working from this is better
