Image numbering

Windows 11, last version of Indesign.

I have set the image description style as follows: before text insert Abb. ^# - , continue from the number before. See picture. The prompt is recognized, but the numbering does not work (see picture), with 2024 it did :-((((

Any idea?

Just piling on to say that numbering, even in the simplest and most basic document, should ALWAYS use independently named lists. It applies a layer of organization that bypasses so many pitfalls and problems, usually encountered five minutes before a deadline. 🙂

When frames are not threaded, you must create a list using this dropdown menu

Thanks for the idea. I have tried, but there was nothing convincing, except for List 1. I selected that and the numbering started by 3, then it inverted 6+5 and it started again with 1.

Now I'll try and delete and place the pictures from the cratch, in chapter 1 it is not so many. I'll let you all know.

I insist, it works, I used this hundreds of times. You need to create a list, using this dropdown menu. The name does not import very much, you can leave it as “List 1”

I selected that and the numbering started by 3, then it inverted 6+5 and it started again with 1.

The order of the numbered frames depend on the chronological order of the frame creation, NOT on the position on the page.

It has always worked this way, in all versions of InDesign.
