Images Disappear or Appear Scrambled When Opening InDesign Document

Lately, when I open an InDesign document, some of the images either disappear or appear in scrambled form. I have to relink them. Sometimes they appear briefly then disappear. Most of them have been in this document with problems for years. Just yesterday, I Exported Book For Print, so all the images are in the Links Folder. What can I do?

    Has this started happening after an update to either InDesign or your operating system? Please provide details as to what version of InDesign and your operating system you are using.
