Images in Indesign

Hi. When opening a existing Indesign document with images placed I get just black image boxes. All the images are linked and not missing. I have to manually relink each image for it to be viewed. This then is ok while Indesign is open but if I quit and re-open (next day) same issue. Doesnt matter if I create the document or has been created by someone else. Anyone come across this problem ? Thanks
