Can I ask, why are you importing your book cover? If you need to export the cover as pdf. I suggest you to open the pdf in photo shop make sure the color is on RGB and save the book cover as tiff or jpeg saving it in the quality you need and then Place the cover in Indesign. When you export the finished product for proof or printing you will need to have the specs required by your print to set the correct pdf.

How did you produce the PDF and which kind?

Hi Derek,

Thanks for reaching out. I imported a cover for a book from Indesign to
pdf, but the pdf lost the color of the book, and the cursor is still
blipping on the pdf.

Blessings,

Maka.

Assuming you have the cover design in InDesign and it's set up correctly, to produce the PDF for your printer, you need to choose in InDesign one of the Adobe PDF Presets and choose, for example, PDF/X-4.

Tick Use Document Bleed settings and crop marks.
