Import Export

I have an iMac1 with 8G. When I try to import the text of a book I have written in order to self publish I only get a few lines of text, they are out of position and the Latin text that is there is not displaced but overides my few lines of text. I am wondering if the problem is that I need 16G for the program to work properly on a large project of this scale? Any suggestions?

8GB? That is barely enough to start the system up, but I agree with the others, we need more info.

  1. Version?
  2. Do you work with Paragraph, Character and Object Styles? Do it.
  3. Is any Character Style active, when you import the text? Don't do it. None should be selected?

We need some more information to help you. Start by giving some information about your system: Please tell us what operating system (exactly) you're running. Please tell us (exactly) what InDesign version you're using. Most important: What format was the text of the book in? Text only, Word file or other format? Was it in one long files or several short files? Was there something already in the InDesign document where you were placing the text?
