Question

Imported footnotes from Word not numbering correctly

I imported a Word doc into InDesign, but all the footnote references are "1." I need them to be sequential, as in 1, the next one 2, the next one 3, etc.  The reference in the text is correct, just not the numbering of the footnote themselves. What am I doing wrong? I haven't had this problem before.

Have you taken a close look at the numbering options in the paragraph style that controls the look of the footnote?

The paragraphs are the normal style imported from Word. I don't see anything about numbering in paragraph styles except to number the paragraphs themselves. I only had a problem with this one imported section. All the others placed perfectly well. I would up just manually numbering the footnotes themselves. The references in the actual paragraphs were working properly. Thanks all the same.

I think Mike means the footnote options, where most aspects of footnotes except for the paragraph text style are controlled. These are separate from paragraph styles.  See Type | Document Footnote Options.
