Imported image stuck at its older canvas size.

Hi, experiencing this problem for a while:

When i import an image into InDesign and open it in Photoshop, make some changes, and change the canvas size to a larger state; even after applying all the changes, the InDesign frame still displays the image’s canvas size at its old size. Other changes appear as it is but canvas size change remains unchanged. When I open it again in Photoshop for check, the canvas size appears at its true size, but the InDesign image remains unchanged, stuck in its old state. No matter what I do, InDesign doesn't forget the image's original canvas size and stubbornly remains in that size in the frame and looks like cropped.

Has anyone experienced this problem or knows how to solve it?

Hi @yusufkot , Not sure if this is related to your problem, but the PSD you shared has an active clipping path and its Image Size is also 25” x 37” at 72ppi:

Seems to me like we are talking about the same thing.

Did you not look at Object > Fitting > Frame Fitting Options?

No, unfortunately it’s not. I use indesign since 2003, I know frame fitting options.

Imagine a 2x2 square image in photoshop. My frame in indesign is also 2x2. I go to photoshop and change the canvas size to 2x3 with generative expand. Now it is a rectangle image originally, not a square. I expand the picture frame in indesign to “fit” the new image, to see the new expansions, but… Here comes the problem, i make it bigger and bigger in all directions, my image is still the old 2x2 square image in the middle of the frame. Where did the expansions go? Where is my rectangle shaped artwork? I change the color, it updates that change in indesign. I add a brush stroke, it updates the link. But my old 2x2 square size, doesn’t change. It stays square. It is not about frame fitting, it is about not updating the link. It’s like every edit in photoshop gets transferred to indesign except the canvas size edit.

Yes, InDesign graphic frames tend to do that. But you can select the frame and click on Object> Fitting > and choose many options such as Center content (which is the placed image) or Fit Frame to Content (probably what you want by your description) or possibly Clear Frame Fitting Options. There are six options here matched along with same-function buttons on the topside Control Panel.

I don't think that's the problem. I may have expressed myself incorrectly.

The case is, it's importing the image with old canvas dimensions that should be long forgotten after it’s been modified and saved in photoshop.

I've included an example image for better understanding.
