Importing book, but it's only showing 1 page

I have a short story written in Word - it's about 10,000 words.

When I copy it into InDesign the text only shows on 1 page - I add more pages and try to paste but it still just says on the first page -

I tried the "Place" option, but it still doesn't work.

How can I paste the text into InDesign and have it appear on the correct number of pages?

thanks.

When you place the text into indesign does the bottom right corner have a little red box. If so you can click on the little red boxthen place a new box with the copy that follows.

I found this on the web which gives a good explanation when building a book. I hope it helps.

Another option would be to use primary text frames. It will add pages as needed; with the proper preferences, it will delete unnecessary pages too.
