importing only specific parts of a Word file

I have a large (+400 pages) InDesign project in which around 20 Word files are placed as links, so I can edit those in Word and immediately see the results in my InDesign. This works all smoothly.

There are, however, instances where I want to exclude certain parts of my Word documents (which are all work in progress) to import in the InDesign layout. Of course I can remove those parts manually in InDesign after importing the Word files, but I would loose that work again after every update of the link. I would expect that there is an option in the InDesign import Word style mapper to ignore certain parts of the Word document, based on a particular paragraph style that I create in Word.  I cannot find a solution to "comment out" some of the text in Word. 

Does anyone have a suggestion for a workaround for this?
