Importing tables from Word to Indesign

Is there a way to completely remove all the table styling from a table imported from Word?

When I import tables from Word it's difficult to edit the styling when compared to tables I've created from scratch with Indesign.

I'm working with some big tables so I really don't want to have to copy and paste each cell.

If you see the attached visual I can't get the horizontal grey lines to appear. They appear to be turning white which they shouldn't be as I've set them to a cell style that has a grey outline.

Any advice much appreciated.

Thank you

I've managed to fix this by re-importing the tables and checking the box to remove all the styles on import.

Hi Peter,

what's your version of InDesign?

If the latest update 15.0.2.323 you can look into a script by Gregor Fellenz that comes along with the update.

Its positioned in the new category Community in your Scripts panel and is named ClearStyleOverrides.jsx.

If you have such works every day then you don't have any alternative to this -

Hi George,

Thanks for the reply, it's not something I'll be doing long term so I don't want to commit to a subscription.

Is there any way to fix this problem within Indesign's current set up?
