Improved Visual Feedback and Annotation Tools in InDesign’s "Share for Review"
Hello Adobe InDesign team,
The Share for Review feature is a game-changer. It finally lets us send documents to clients without having to export and email PDF files—a slow, outdated, and messy workflow.
Sending a live link instead is faster, cleaner, and modern. Thank you.
But there’s one major problem:
The way comments are displayed and handled is severely limited—for both the reviewer and the designer.
Problem for reviewers:
They can’t draw directly on the layout (e.g., circle something with Apple Pencil)
They can’t use highlighting tools to mark areas of concern
No support for shapes, arrows, or freehand annotations
No "spotlight" on affected elements (text, images, boxes)
For creators/designers:
Pins (comment markers) are small, inconsistent, or hidden
There’s no quick visual overview of what’s been commented on
Share for Review is the right direction. But for it to replace PDF proofing workflows, it needs to support true visual markup, better comment-pin integration, and tablet-friendly interaction.
Please consider improving this feature—it has the potential to completely modernize the approval process.
Thank you for your time and continued work.
