Question

In MathType application, we are facing font issues with the division symbols.

Problem:

In the MathType application, we are facing font rendering issues with the division symbol (÷). Please refer to the attached screenshot for reference.

We have investigated this issue in Adobe InDesign 2026 using the current MathType version 7.1.

We observed that when the division symbol is used with the Euclid symbol font, it does not render correctly in certain cases. The symbol appears broken, misaligned, or inconsistent in the output PDF generated from InDesign.

However, the same issue is not consistently seen when the division symbol is used along with other mathematical operators or functions such as plus (+), minus (−), or integral (∫). In those cases, the rendering appears correct within the same document.

This indicates that the issue is specifically related to the Euclid symbol font handling for the division character in certain contexts within MathType EPS output when processed in InDesign. Please refer the below screenshot

    Hi @Devibala,

Sorry for the delay, and thanks for reaching out with the detailed information and screenshots.

Could you please confirm the exact InDesign version you are using along with the OS details? Also, please make sure that you are using the latest available version of MathType and check whether the issue still reproduces with the EPS generated through the updated version when placed in InDesign.

Additionally, for us to test and investigate further on our end, could you please share the EPS file generated from MathType along with the affected exported PDF? If the files are confidential, feel free to share them via DM using any cloud-sharing platform such as Google Drive, Dropbox, WeTransfer, etc.

It would also help if you could create a similar mathematical expression directly inside InDesign without using MathType and check whether the PDF exports correctly there. This will help isolate whether the issue is specifically related to the MathType-generated EPS output or the InDesign PDF export workflow itself.

Please let us know your observations so we can continue investigating this further.

Temporary fix: I changed the division symbol to the Symbol font instead of the Elucid Symbol font. However, I need a permanent solution.
