InCopy User - Permission to edit

Hi there,

I am wondering if there is a way to lock out certain users from editing assignments.

The only way I can see is if they have different permissions on folders to access files.

Thanks!

There is no such feature and I would strongly advise against what you’re thinking about as it could cause issues with links to the original document.

Thank you both for your feedback, but this is a publishing situation where there is a team of people that all have to work on different parts of a document. They all need to have InCopy to edit their sections. There is concern that one user will edit the stories of another user and so I would like to be able to lock them out from being able to do that. I could probably do a server folder permissions kind of set up, but wondered if there was something already existing in InCopy that I had missed.

Thanks again,

Leslee

why would you want to lock them out? if they are not to work on something send them an email. you locking them out is just opening the door to emails and conflicts.

Don’t install InCopy of their computers. Beyond that…no!

Why would you say that? We require InCopy in our workflow.

You said you wanted to keep certainly people from editing the file. Read my answer again, it was pretty clear.
