If it helped resolve the issue and the missing elements are now appearing, that's great to hear. I downloaded and opened your file. It opened instantly and easily. This suggests to me that something is ailing your computer or your InDesign aap.

Have you tried:

Emptying your Temp folders?

Resetting InDesign preferences?

Do you get a dialog saying something on the lines that the document was created on a newer version of InDesign and needs to be converted to open in your version. If so then this could be a network/service issue as in this case the file is uploaded to Adobe servers for conversion.
