INDD - Interactive Buttons - ePub/Web v. PDF

Hello there!

I have this strange export/functionality issue with the linked document. I have reinserted an interactive button to link to a live URL multiple times. The button - URL link works and is live when I publish to the web, however it is not working with PDF export. There are two additional buttons which were created the same way and work fine in both the web based and interactive PDF.

I have deleted the object -button - recreated it - done all of these things and yet it will not go live with the correct interactivity.

Any suggestions out there?  Thanks!

Could there be a transparent object above the text/object with the URL? That could cause the object not to work.

Thanks, Sandee! I can confirm that there is not an additional transparent object. It is just so odd that it works online but not as PDF and that 2 out of the 3 buttons are functional but the third button is not.

Stick to simple hyperlinks.

Thanks, Derek - I did initially but the insert HYPERLINKS were not going live

What PDF reader are you using to test your buttons? The only PDF readers which are sure to work are Adobe Acrobat and free Adobe Reader. Many PDF readers, especially on mobile devices, have very poor support for anything other than simple hyperlinks. Those include PDF readers in web browsers and third-party browsers like Apple Preview.

And Adobe's readers on mobile devices also don't support buttons as well.

I will check on another computer and hope for the best - but the odd part is consistency across all three buttons. Why would 2 out of the three work and one does not?

Appreciate your tip!
