Indd is not providing the margins I requested in Adjust Layout (Indd version 21.1)

Question

Using InDesign 21.1, I have a doc that is 8.5 in. x 10.5 in. Top and inside margins = 1.5 in; bottom and outside margins = 2 in. The pages reflect their parent pages accurately.

I want use Adjust Layout to change the page size to 7 x 10.5 with top margin at 1.25 in and other 3 at 1 in.

In Adjust Layout I set the width and height, unchecked Auto-adjust margins and entered the new margin values.

Indd is not providing the margins I requested. In Document Setup the values are correct. When I reopen Adjust Layout the values are correct. But the page margins did not change on the parents or the body pages. (Page size changed accurately.)

What am I missing?

Hi @sidneydavenport:

Auto-adjust Layout should work when the pages:

have frames snapped to the margins and
no page overrides.

Watch page 3 on the right not respond to Auto-Adjust Layout while the other pages did. I'm exaggerating dragging it off of the margins, it doesn't take much.

A better workflow is to use Primary Frames. It's too late for this job unless you want to back up, add them and reflow the text, but next time read up on them before you start.
