InDesign 14 trouble

I recently upgraded to InDesign CC 14 and have had absolutely nothing but problems since. InDesign is extremely buggy and slow, and locks/crashes at least 4 times a day. It took me about 5 installations to get it to even run, and that was only after my company's IT guy changed a bunch of preferences (probably not helping)... Frequently the crashing occurs when I double click a text box to edit text.

I guess my question is, were there some kind of enhanced system requirements that took effect in v. 14 that maybe my machine doesn't meet? The difference in performance is night and day from the previous version; I can now barely get any work done. I am an in-house designer and work with Illustrator, Indesign and Photoshop simultaneously most days. My system specs are in the screenshot below. Unfortunately I'm not the most savvy when it comes to processors, memory and the like. The graphics driver is Intel HD Graphics 530 and I have 32GB of physical memory. I already know the computer isn't the best, the company tries to cheap out on everything. 😕😕  Any advice would be great....

There are countless threads on this already. Please read through them.

The number one fix seems to be disabling the Control Panel.
