InDesign 15.0.1 keyboard shortcuts don't work

Mac OS 10.14.6: I used to be able to hold down the shift and command keys and drag the corner of an image to resize it. That no longer works. I used to be able to hold down the command key on an active text box and resize it. That no longer works either. What's going on? What have I missed?

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out.

There has been no change in the default keyboard shortcuts. Please check https://helpx.adobe.com/in/indesign/using/default-keyboard-shortcuts.html for more info.

You may check in Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts if shortcuts are changes and set the Default keyboard shortcut set.
You may try resetting the preferences as well. Please follow instructions given on https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/using/setting-preferences.html to do that.

**Please note that resetting preferences will remove all the custom settings and InDesign will launch with default settings. You can also take a backup of the folders in case you want to. Location is mentioned in the article.

Also, make sure there is no web browser (Chrome) or extension is interfering with keyboard shortcuts.

Hope it helps.

Regards,

Ashutosh

As Ashutosh mentioned, often when you have trouble with keyboard modifiers, it's caused by software which "grabs" keystrokes. It can be independent apps but many are browser plug-ins like virus blockers or password managers.

The way to check is to quit InDesign and reboot your computer. If possible turn off start up software. Then open InDesign FIRST. See if you have the same problem with your shortcuts. If InDesign works OK, one-by-one, open software and see when the problem re-occurs.
