InDesign 15.0 Home button keeps getting in the way

Is it just me or does anyone else keep getting locked into this loop with the new InDesign release?

  1. I open InDesign
  2. Click a recent file with the intent of doing a save as / export / package
  3. Muscle memory kicks in to click File and instead this new Home button is in its place
  4. I click the Home button and keep going back and forth between the Home screen and the document I'm working on before realizing what's going on and slowing TF down so I can get on with my day.

For the company that tries to set the industry standard for UX software, I'm amazed things like this slip through on major releases. (Side note: At this point, all it would take for me to switch to something like Affinity is a single recommendation from someone reassuring me that I won't run into issues/quirks while working with vendors or other designers.)

I'm pretty sure no professional would give you that assurance and even so, as Steve points out, it's a 1.0 product. What makes you think they won't be changing things up, too.

AFAIC, if that's your biggest complaint, then consider yourself lucky.

I work on a Mac so the File menu is above that bar. What you're pointing out is that, with only one bar in Windows, the menu items shifted to the right. So how long does it take you to relearn that one thing? Maybe a day or two?

You can threaten us with switching to Affinity, but you'll have a whole lot more to learn if you switch to the program. I tried Affinity out but it's version 1.0 and is missing a whole lot of stuff you've learned to use and love in InDesign.
