InDesign 16.2.1 Errors While Saving, Files open as modified

macOS Big Sur ver. 11.3.1

-Files opened after updating to 16.2.1 open as being modified with no actions listed in the Edit>Undo menu. Most files that I work with are in 16.1, I did not run tests on opening any older file versions at this time.
-When saving, the file will cause InDesign to Error and Crash. (I forget the exact wording, but it's the error with the big red warning sign before InDesign crashes out.)
-When using "Save As," InDesign reads the files as needing repair and that any modifications that were completed in the file may not be retained. There were mixed results with whether or not any modifications made before the "Save As" were retained in the file that is now tagged with "repaired" in the document name.
I am a primary tester before our company gives the go ahead on department wide updates, so I have not heard any similar experiences from coworkers at this time. I have opted to revert to 16.1 at this time as this level of file volatility is not something I tend to have the time to consistently work around.

Hi there,

So sorry to hear about this trouble. That's definitely not a typical experience with the application. To help you with this issue I would need a few more details like:

  • Do you see similar behavior while turning off the GPU Performance under Preferences?
  • Where are the InDesign files are saved (Network Drive/ System HDD/ Shared Folder on System /External HDD)?
  • Is the issue related to a specific document?

You may also try the steps shared on this page (https://community.adobe.com/t5/indesign/resolve-slow-performance-and-unexpected-behavior-of-indesign/td-p/11487287?page=1) and share your observations with us.

Looking forward to your response.

Try turning off GPU performance in the Preferences.
