InDesign 18.4 x64 (on Win11) freez up for a second every time I draw a shape, or draw out a text box

Every time I try to draw out a shape, draw out a text box, or draw out the frame for a placed graphic ID freezes for just a second or two. I just keep drawing out the shape while it's frozen, and it snaps out of it, catches up with my mouse position and I can finish the shape.

 

I've tried different view settings for the document with no luck. My current view setting is the default "Typical View", although I may have some graphics in the document that have been set to "Hi Performance".

I have noticed that it doesn't freeze for near as long in a brand new empty document, but still skips a beat or two.

 

My PC specs are:

OS: Windows 11 - Version: 22H2.

Processor: 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-12700K 3.60 GHz - x64-based processor.
RAM: 32.0 GB.

Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 - Driver 535.98

OS Hard Drive: 500 GB, Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus

File Storage Drive: 2 TB, Force MP600
 
Any ideas as to a cause or a fix would be greatly appreciated.

    If updating doesn't fix it, do you have a Bing desktop slideshow running by any chance?

    I sincerely apoligize for the delay of any responses from me....

     

    I've narrowed it down to having the swatches panel fully opened (I have almost all the avaialble panels opened up on a secondary monitor) up, and using "Large Thumbnails". I am using some legacy Pantone swatches in my document as well.

    My workaround is to have that panel collapse down to it's icon. Everything works a treat then.

    We would suggest you please update InDesign to the latest version (ID 18.5 x 64) and let us know if the issue is resolved.

     

    If the issue persists, please let us know if it's happening with every file or with a specific file. Does it freeze while drawing shapes or text boxes, or have you noticed it with any other action as well, like saving the file?
