Indesign 18 - files grey

Since I use Indesign 18 on Mac OS Sonoma 14.1 I have an issue with files.

When I try to link or load images that were just saved in Photoshop they appear grey the first time I open the folder; if I then open the folder again they can be opened and appear normal. Same with indd files.

Opening folders two times is pretty time consuming. Anyone has the same problem / solution?

Many thanks!

Hi @michaels9618605,

I’m sorry to hear you’re having trouble viewing previews of your files in Finder. I know how frustrating it can be when things don’t work smoothly.

As Bob suggested, the issue might be caused by the bugs in macOS Sonoma 14.1. Updating your macOS to the latest version could potentially resolve this issue, as newer versions often come with bug fixes and stability improvements.

Additionally, if you haven’t already done so, please try updating InDesign to version 19.5. Open your files in this version, resave them, and see if that helps.

If you need any further help, please let me know!

Best,

Anshul Saini

Thanks, updating to 19.5 is no option as some of our clients still use the supported version 18 in their workflows.

Best, Michael

Update to Somona 14.6.1 solved the issue. Thank you!

Hi Bob,

the issue was first solved after updating to 14.6.1. But now 10 days later same problem again. Strange that it was temporarily OK...
