Question

InDesign 19.5 is slow when exporting files to PDF or JPEG.

On two of our PC's InDesign feels slow/sluggish when exporting a file to either PDF or JPEG.

It takes over 2 minutes before InDesign can be used again.

I've tried to pinpoint the cause of the issues. The time it takes to export the file is the same if I use a networkshare or the local SSD.

Both PC's have the latest version of InDesign (19.5) installed.

I've followed this post to try and solve the issue but unfortunately I was unable to solve it.

Please let me know if you require further information.

Hi @Raymond27740516jl5m,

Sorry for the trouble you're experiencing with InDesign while exporting files and thanks for trying the suggestions shared in the post. Would you mind telling us if it's happening with all files or with a specific file? Please also try the steps suggested in this article: https://adobe.ly/3LTsWr1.

Let us know if that helps.

Thanks,

Harshika

Hello Harshika,

The issue happens with all files that we're using.

As I've mentioned in my replies to @Robert at ID-Tasker, we've tried an export on a local test file.
It takes 2 minutes and 25 seconds to export a 2,27 MB locally saved file to JPEG. It doesn't matter if there is a network connection on the PC or not.

I've also put the system specifications in one of my replies.

As for your solution, we've tried all solutions but none have resolved the issue.

Please let me know if you have other recommendations.

Kind regards,

Raymond

Do you have ANY network related leftovers in you file?

What if you DISABLE all network connections?

Also, close Links, Library and all interactivity related pallets - Hyperlinks, Bookmarks, etc. Maybe even pages.

Or simply hit TAB - with nothing selected - to hide all pallets.

Hello Robert,

We have put all files needed to create the file on the local SSD.

After copying the files locally we created a new test file and saved it on the local SSD.

Even saving the file locally took about 2 minutes.

We have not tried disabling the network connection nor any of your other suggestions.

We'll definitely give this a try.

Thank you,

Raymond
