InDesign 19.5 Unresponsive: Interface Ignoring Commands After Upgrade

Really hoping someone can help as my inDesign is essentially useless right now. I have tried everything to get inDesign working since the upgrade but nothing is correcting this bug/issue. Since upgrading the interface just ignores almost every command. I can't select swatches, can't change font types, and many other bizarre things. I can make changes if I just click like 20 times in the same place but nothing is working as it should. I have tried everything from importing my settings from my other instance of iD, to completely uninstalling the program and reinstalling. Here is a video of me trying to perform the simplest task on a completely fresh install.

I am beyond mad right now as I have wasted half a day already just trying to get back to some type of normality.

Do you have any third-party plug-ins either in InDesign or your operating system (please provide exact details as to what OS that is)? If you do have plug-ins try disabling them and see if the problem resolves. Also if plug-ins are present make sure that they have been updated to the latest version that is compatible with 19.5 (if such an upgrade exists).

No plugins. Running on Mac OS Sonoma 14.5.

As a test, try to revert to InDesign 19.4, you can do so from the Creative Cloud app:

Will it make a difference?

Also, update Sonoma to the latest 14.6 (even though it's unlikely to make a difference in your case.)

Updates often fail to correctly import user preferences from a prior version, and/or corrupt them. Reset your prefs and you will probably cure all these faults.

Thanks for the speedy reply James, but I have tried resetting all preferences and doesn't change anything. Tried completely uninstalling and doing the same....nothing.

Well, bummer. But for the record, uninstalling/reinstalling does not reset prefs (that is, it leaves a number of user files behind) unless you use a tool like CCleaner to erase it all. (It's a mistake to keep reinstalling to try and fix a problem for that reason.)

Something is corrupted, but that exhausts my bag of fixes.

You might specify your platform and OS to guide further suggestions.
