InDesign 20.5.2 on macOS Tahoe 26.2 not allowing text selection or access to preferences after update

InDesign won't allow me to select text, or select any preferences. I've done an update in Cloud, and it says I have ID version 20.5.2. I've never had an issue like this. I'm using a Mac Studio Tahoe 26.2.
