InDesign 2019 server slowness for XML tagging & VDP workflow

Hi Team,
It would be great if you provide us with the root cause of slowness for the 2019 Indesign server compared with the 2014 Indesign server. I have attached a time and motion test performed for the same with a total count of 3 tests by a single user and also defined the slowness as below in provided report.

If 2019 time is faster, marked it as Green

If 2019 time is slower, marked it as Red

If it's median, marked it Yellow.

We use 2 workflows for our development as defined below:
- XML tagging : Template persists more tags, greph style, Paragraph / Character style & resizing content with more panels.
- VDP (Variable data printing) : Template persists few tags, greph style, Paragraph / Character style & no resizing for this method.

Note: Kindly let us know the drawback and implementation for same.

Hi @IND25978059vafq ,

I cannot help directly with your performance issues with InDesign Server 2019.

Did you test with newer versions of InDesign Server? 2020, 2021 or 2022?

Would better machine specs, multi-processor support perhaps, more and faster RAM change the figures in advantage to InDesign Server 2019 compared to older versions?

The output is high speed creation of PDF files.

Hm. In case you also need InDesign documents as output this would not be the way to go.
