InDesign 2020 (15.0.2) is creating extra folders (AdobeFnt.lst ) automatically after packaging files

Has anyone noticed that the latest version of InDesign 2020 (15.0.2) is recreating extra folders after files have been packaged with images and fonts? Basically, I just packaged a layout by saving it to an alternative 'work' folder that sits on my desktop. Once that was complete I moved the packaged folder back to the original job folder alongside other material associated with the project.

The issue occurred as soon as I opened that InDesign file once again. After doing this, a new folder (same name as the packaged material) reappeared in the 'work' desktop folder. It only contains a Document Fonts folder, so no duplicate Links or a copy of the InDesign files itself. Weird behavior though, I've not seen anything like this before and it's only started happening after the very recent upgrade.

At least the awful CMD-Z undo bug seems to have been fixed though.

Same problem here! Installed the latest version of InDesign this morning (coming from the 2019 version) and also upgraded OS X to Mojave. And suddenly I get all of these folders on my hard disk...! As someone posted this problem stops occuring as soon as I quit and restart InDesign so right now the trick seems to be to quit ID everytime you create a package...? Scary and annoying nonetheless. And very odd that this hasn't been solved yet...!

EDIT

It also seems to happen when I replace a package. So I have an existing package and I replace it: as soon as I open the document a folder is being created where the package was first. Really odd...

Best 'solution' so far: quit InDesign before you move any folders... Odd and annoying but it works.

Best solution I've found so far is to un-install version 15.0.2 and install 15.0.1. All problems gone.

Here's what happens. We create an article with photo/article text in it and package the file. Everything is in the packaged file as it should be. We move the package folder to our networked Drobo. Open from that location and everything is fine. We move it to another folder on the server and go back to the first server folder and open a different packaged InDesign file. When we do that the previous package folder (that was moved out of that folder) reappears in the first location with only the "Document Fonts" folder in it.

What in the world is going on?

Hi,

This has been happening a lot recently.

When I open any Indesign file, I get 4 folders appear on my desktop from previous jobs, in each of these folders is another folder that says Document Fonts which has Adobe font file.

If I reset the Indesign preferances it stops initially, then starts happening again.

I run a 27" iMac, Catalina, version 10.15.3, and Indesign CC2020.

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

Mike.

Same here, I even deleted app, and re-installed. It seems to happen when packageing a file, then opening said file from packaged folder. Even when I open a different file (from different project), it residually putsthe recently packaged folders onto desktop. any help would be appreciated, trash is getting full with these duplicate folders!!

I package a file, and then once I open the new file, I found that the fonts suddenly didn't work. But that's not the whole issue. Then I change the fonts to hopefully alleviate the font issue and repackaged, this time saving to a new packaged folder name. This fixes the font error so I delete the old packaged folder. But the second that I open the new packaged InDesign document, it somehow remembers the older packaged file and brings it back to life. But not in the way that you think. It brings back the older folder structure, with only one folder in it: a "Document fonts" folder with a "AdobeFnt21.lst" file.

Any assistance woudl be greatly appreciated. Never noticed this issue until I updgraded to Adobe InDesign 2020.

Hi Sergio,

you are describing a known bug with InDesign 15.0.2.323.

Two workarounds:

1. Go back to version 15.0.1.

2. After packaging a document immediately quit and restart InDesign.

The developers are working on a solution…

WAIT. So I need to do a workaround to ensure extra folders aren't created? Why not fix the problem?

Since the latest update (15.0.2), whenever I open any INDD document, INDD creates a "collected" folder of every job I've worked on (and packaged) since the update and places it on my desktop. Even if I'm just going in to make a quick revision, when I close it, there are several new (packaged collect) folders back on my desktop again. EVERY. TIME. I know this is a new glitch since the update, but it's rather annoying. Any workarounds yet?

This is getting frustrating

Everytime I package contents in indesign the package folder duplicates and creates empty folders with the same folder name with only the document fonts.

If I change the folder name of contents I just packaged, it duplicates the folders with only the documents fonts.

Can this get fixed ASAP.

This bug is disastrous, to say the least. It is hindering and causing major confusion in our workflow and makes it very easy to accidentally overwrite the actual file package.
