indesign 2020 doesn’t relink packaged file

Question

I've noticed that when I package a file in indesign cc 2020 it does not update the links as it used to. Instead, it keeps links to original files. This nearly caused me a very costly error on a print job. Could someone explain why this feature no longer works? Feels like I've reverted to quark 4.0 and need to buy extensis collect pro!

Hi Chris,

Sorry to hear about the trouble. To ensure that your links are up to date before packaging, you can try the steps below:

Please navigate to Window > Links and then on the Link Panel, go to Link Options and please enable Update Link When Saving Document. For more information, you can refer to the screenshot below.
You can also ensure to update the links while packaging, please navigate to Links and Images and if there are any links that need to be updated it can be updated from the Links and images section. For more information please refer to the screenshot below.
