InDesign 2021 stops responding on startup

InDesign 2021 is locking up (not responding) on start up. I have launched it from the start menu, from the Creative Cloud, and done "run as administrator". I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it. Nothing works. There is no folder in my "user" folder for Adobe. So removing appdata is not an option.

Try resetting your preferences:
The easiest way to reset everything is to delete the InDesign preferences: as soon as InDesign starts to boot hold down Shift, Alt, Ctrl (and Apple/Cmd if working on a Macintosh). A dialog will appear asking to delete the InDesign Preferences, select 'Yes' on this dialog.

Hi there,

Sorry to hear about your experience.  As suggested by Eugene, You may try using Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to remove the existing installation of the app & reinstall once done.

Additionally, please follow the suggestions given on this community post. Let us know if it helps.

Regards,

Ashutosh

Never needed to use it but will keep it in mind should the need arise in the future.

That's probably not true. You have to enable viewing hidden and system folders and files in Explorer to be able to see it.

Thanks Peter but I was and am just as puzzled as you are. I run my computer with the view showing hidden files and folders. I am a tech (computer software and hardware trainer/installer) in my company. It helps me when it comes to trouble shooting. It really isn't there. I actually found it on the D partion of my computer. Some how I have two "user" folders. Very strange but deleteing what was in there still didn't help.

Sadly my Adobe account is part of a larger corporate account and Adobe will not help me directly. I must go through our own support person. Problem with that is that no one knows who that person is. Thanks anyway.
