Indesign 2022 on Mac not saving

I am using indesign 2022 on Mac OS Monterey Version 12.1 and have encountered an issue where I am unable to save my document or undo any actions. I have done a considerable amount of important work on this document and am unsure how I am meant to save this progress. Any help would be much appreciated.

Try saving it as an IDML document, renaming it and reopening it again as an InDesign document.
