InDesign 2023 freezes when 2 files open

One user here cannot work on two InDesign files.

This is a Win 10 machine, 32GB of RAM, Core i7-12700, NVIDIA T1000 8GB.

Runs fine with 1 file open. Drags and freezes with 2.

As he was having issues, I checked and his machine was reporting 24GB of RAM available. Do not think it is a resource issue.

How many links?

Are all links available?

Are those files placed inside each other?

Can either of files be opened & used on its own?

What is the size in KB / MB of the files?

How often Save As with a new name been done - or only Ctrl+S?

Can you do IDMLing - export as IDML, open and save with a new name.

The files can be opened and worked with fine one at a time.

The files are not nested.

The user has indicated it is any 2 files. Everything is fone working on any file he has, but the minute he opens any other file, InDesign chokes.

I will check on the other questions.

what version of Wndows 10? 22H2 or older?

What version of InDesign 2023 (18.x.x)?

How is the second file opened? By menu - open or via explorer or ...?

Are the files locally on the PC or on a network share?

Is more than one instance of InD running at the same time?

What other software is running (e.g. AV software)?
