Question

indesign 2023 unusably slow

just booted up indesign for the first time in a year, and loaded an old proposal document and it literally took 20 seconds to move an object.  I tried poking around with a few other things, reloaded it, but with that object every time it just pooed itself.

Is this a new feature?

I installed indesign 2022 and the app loaded quicker, the document loaded almost instantly, and my object caused it no trouble at all.  I'm not being funny but indesign 2023 has been out for over 6 months, I would've thought showstopping bugs like this had been addressed.  Is it an issue with the old file format or what?

And see if you have problems with other old files and new files you create. THere's a good chance the problem is file-specific.

Ok very weird  - I installed indesign 2022, and now the file is usable in both.  I'd put this down to idiot user error, if I i hadn't faffed around for 10 mins (including trashing prefs) before I resintalled.

Ultimately: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Hi Getho,

Glad to hear it's working now. For future reference, you can also try the suggestions shared here

Thanks

2023 was released last November so it's well over 6 months. As for your issues, without system specs it's impossible to even guess, but the first thing I'd do is trash preferences.
