I am having the same issue!

I have even tried a little extra trick which has worked in the past (not this time, but I will explain in case it helps someone else here)...

Mac - Open Font Book and find your installed font, right-click and select "Show in Finder". Copy your font file then navigate to your Applications folder, Find InDesign 2023, then open the fonts folder and paste in the missing font file.  Restart your computer then reopen Indesign and see if the font works now.

Update on my previous post. The method explained above did work with the full computer restart!

I'm also having problems loading OFT fonts (and others) in InDesign v18.2.1.  I'm using Font Book and these fonts have always worked before.  I'm on a MacBook Pro.  What to do?  I'd appreciate any advice.

Are the fonts PostScript fonts? These have reached end of lift and you cannot use with InDesign 2023 because backward compatibility would hinder InDesign to adopt modern text compositing. Photoshop stopped supporting PostScript Type 1 fonts over a year ago, and there has been a warning that this change was coming for some time. If this is the case contact your font vendor to see if they have an Open Type version of the font, there are also font conversion utilities (if your licence permits), or stick to using an older version of InDesign.

If this was not your issue then there would be a need of more information on the font you are having trouble with and the operating system you are using.

InDesign version 18.1 has not yet cut off use of PostScript Type 1 fonts. But it would give you a warning if you were using them. The next version in prerelease, 18.2, not yet released, will not show the PostScript Type 1 fonts at all.

The poster said he was using 18.1.

Are you sure that you have no filters (recent, favorite, cloud etc) applied in the Font Menu?

Are they fonts installed locally on your computer?

Mac or Windows?

Do they show in other applications? e.g. Illustrator or anything outside of the Adobe suite, e.g. Text Edit?
