Question

InDesign 2023 won't open - I have to delete and re-install every time.

It's been 3 or 4 days now, my InDesign wont launch, it blinks the initial loading screen once and that's it.
I've been deleting and re-installing inDesign all over again everyday in the morning. After re-installing I can launch it only once, but when I close the software and try to launch again, it won't work. And I have to do it again deleting > re-installing > to be able to launch just once.

Can somebody please help me? My inDesign and my computer are updated, which is a MacBook Pro 14' 2021 M1 Pro 16GB, running Ventura 13.2.1

Thank you all.

Exact same problem seems to be happening to my Indesign with (the latest) version 18.5 on a macOS Ventura 13.2.1. Next time I will roll back to older versions if that does the trick.

I can confirm that an older version seems to work. I've installed version 18.4 now (was 18.5). I hope they will fix this issue on the next update.

Same Problem

18.4 needs to be fixed for mac osx 13.2.1
18.3 works fine

First off, this is not normal behavior, so mostlikely the problem is in some setting on your system. Macs are, apparently, very sensitive to permissions, and a lot of problems have been traced to insufficient priviliges for InDesign and other Adobe apps on some of the folders they need to write to. I'm a PC user, so not fluent in Mac OS, but there are quite a few threads here describing how to fix that, and that's the place I would start.

Having the very same problem on MacOs Ventura 13.1

Only way I can temporarly fix it is to reset the preferences, but it still only works until I don't quit InDesign.

I notice a indesign-activator.script remain stuck on the top bar (gear icon rotating next to the CreativeCloud icon)

Mine has been crashing multiple times per day with the new update. I did find rebuilding the CC library helped a little. At least I got a few hours before it crashed. They definitely need to fix this latest roll out.

Uninstall the app and install version 18.3.  This solved all my problems.

Cheers for the tip. Adobe really should test their software before they release updates. It's a joke really. Nearly £60 a month for software that's doesn't work!

Instead of uninstalling, try to reset preferences: quit InDesign and relaunch it while holding down the Shift, Ctrl, Alt and Cmd keys until you see a warning message asking for confirmation.

This method also works on the first time when I reset preferences. But when I try to launch it again, same thing happens, it won't work unless I reset  the preferences or install it again. I guess I'll keep working on 18.3 version until Adobe fixes this issue.

Thank you though, @jmlevy

I installed inDesign 18.3 instead of 18.4 and looks like it is working properly now.
So it's a problem on 18.4 version.
