InDesign 2024

I recently upgraded to InDesign 2024 from an old version. Previously when you would select text by scrolling over the text, it would be smooth. Now it seems like the cursor snapps to each character and sometimes jumps one character that you didn't want to highlight. Also there is an icon that comes up in the text block. 

Is there any way to revert to legacy on selecting text?
