InDesign 2024 not appearing on default apps for indd files/2023 version automatically opening

Hi,

As of this morning, whenever I try to open an indd file it automatically opens in InDesign 2023 despite me having used InDesign 2024 for a while. When I try to change the default app to open indd files in, InDesign 2024 doesn't appear from the list, and when I select the program itself nothing happens. I'm still able to open InDesign 2024 and work from it, it's just frustrating I can't open files from explorer this way. Is anyone else having this issue?

I'm on Windows 10

Thank you! I uninstalled 2024 and 2023 and reinstalled 2024 and all seems ok so far.

I had the exact same problem! I uninstalled 23 version and it now opens in 24 by default.

Even though I chose the option to save my preferences when I uninstalled InDesingn 23 my custom workspace disappeared in 2024, so I have to redo that.

Yes I have the exact same issue on Windows 10.

InDesign 2024 does not show up as an option to set it as a default app.

Only the 2023 version is displayed. It's VERY annoying.

That's strange. Generally, I have observed that whichever app version you install the last that is set as the default application. So you could try uninstalling 2024 and then reinstalling it, that would hopefully fix the default application issue for your case.

For information, which OS are you using, MAC or WIN?

Ok I've done the same, ininstalled both versions, re-install 2024 version 19.01, then restart and now all ID files open as they should. Thank you!
