InDesign 2024 not recognizing documents from 2023 version

I'm not sure how this happened, because I have my update settings configured so that when I update InDesign, the older versions get deleted, but somehow I had both InDesign 2023 and 2024 installed at the same time. When I would double-click a file to open it, it defaulted to the 2023 version. I uninstalled 2023 hoping that that would make the 2024 version the new default app for all InDesign files, but now, when I double-click to open, I get a Windows error message: "This file does not have an app associated with it for performing this action. Please install an app or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default App Settings Page." The problem is, when I try to do this, Windows isn't giving me the option to associate InDesign files (of any sort!) with the 2024 app.

Do I need to reinstall the 2024 version? Or is this an operating system issue?

Okay I think I have solved this, so if anyone else is having a similar problem: in your Explorer window, right-click on an INDD file that isn't opening in the 2024 version, and select Properties. Near the top under the General section, it should say the type of file and then "Opens with," with a button that says "Change." This allowed me to select InDesign 2024 (and it fixed it for every other file of the same type!). I'm thinking it was a Windows error.
