Note to all: InDesign 2025 20.4, just rolled out, apparently is breaking a lot of CEP extensions. This includes CEP extensions from third parties as well as Adobe's own standard CEP extensions.

The only known workaround at this moment is to downgrade to 20.0.

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to drop in and let you know that the latest InDesign 20.4.1 update includes fixes for issues with CEP extensions. If you haven't already, please give this version a try and see if it resolves the problems you were seeing.

If you're still experiencing any issues after updating, feel free to share the details here and we'll be happy to look into it further.

Hi Kris,

not directly related, but on macOS, not on Windows, the ExtendScript command Folder.execute() is also broken with InDesign 2025 v20.4.0.52; it still will run as expected with v20.3.0. See bug report at InDesign User Voice:
