InDesign 2025 Constantly Crashing With Simple Text Editing

InDesign 2025 on a PC is unusable. I have an existing InDesign document, nothing fancy, a simple report. When I try to remove three paragraphs of body text by highligting it and hitting the delete button (an extremely simple task I've done thousands of times) InDesign freezes and I have to End Task in the Task Manager. I let it sit for 20 minutes and it was just a spinning cursor.

Adobe has joined the enshitification party in tech. Make a product that works.

I figured out a workaround. I used InDesign 2024, opened the file, converted it, and it works fine now. Something is wrong with InDesign 2025 for PC. Adobe continues to amaze.

Yes, for now that's the only solution - downgrade to 2024.

I’m following up on an email I sent about a week ago regarding ongoing InDesign crashes.

I’m having difficulty accessing the existing support threads you referenced previously. When I click any of the links in your emails, I’m redirected to a generic home page rather than the relevant discussion, which makes it impossible to review or continue the troubleshooting steps.

Unfortunately, the core issue remains unresolved. InDesign is still crashing while editing text, even when using the latest pre-release versions. At this point the problem has caused me to miss a publishing deadline, which is extremely frustrating and has had a real impact on my work.

I need this issue properly addressed as a matter of urgency. Could you please:

Provide direct, working links to the relevant support threads, or

Escalate this case so we can move toward a definitive fix rather than further testing cycles

I’m happy to provide logs, files, or any additional information required, but I do need a clear path forward.

Thank you for your attention — I look forward to your response.

Kind regards,

Peter

I understand the issue you're facing. To help resolve this, please provide the following details:

1. OS version and specs (processor, RAM, etc.), and confirm if you are using InDesign 2025 version 20.0 or 20.0.1.

2. Is the issue with a specific file or all files? Does InDesign crash with newly created documents?

3. Where is the file saved – locally, on a remote machine, cloud, or external drive?

Please also follow this article for troubleshooting: Crash or freeze while working with text frames

Let me know how it goes!

I will note, when I open this exact same file on the Cloud on my Mac, I can edit it just fine no problems.
