InDesign 2025 keeps beachballing - MacBook Pro

Good day -

I'm trying to work on a design document, but since updating InDesign 2025, when I'm scrolling pages in the document, I get the spinning beachball.

Currently I'm working on a MacBook Pro - Apple M2, and using Sonoma 14..7.5

Does this mean I need to look into upgrading to the Sequoia MacOS? Or is there another work-around? I've forced InDesign to quit, and restarted my computer a couple of times. And rather than doing the recovery thing again, I said no to that when reopening InDesign (didn't do anything the first couple of times I did say yes to that)

Thanks in advance!

Did you try the "Export to IDML" method on that document? It is discussed in the above linked compendium.

Hello Sky,

Here is a long list of troubleshooting ideas you can try. It covers most people's slow-down issues.

What patch version of InDesign do you have?

Hi @Mike Witherell

Patch version is 20.3 - the most recent.

I've even uninstalled and reinstalled InDesign.

@Mike Witherell @Anubhav M

It appears to be just one of my InDesign files - even saved a copy of it and it did the same thing.

Hello @skyglider,

Would you mind trying to run InDesign under Safe Mode (macOS) and checking if it helps? Also, try running InDesign under a different administrator account (macOS) and share your observations.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hi there.

I don't have another admin account to use unfortunately.

It seems the document beachballs when I reach a certain page. Happens in regular and safe mode.
